Pros - The students' experience has been extremely positive in the 5 years I've studied at Sheffield Hallam. The facilities are top notch and well funded - all labs for engineering are modern and great to use, which applies to all other labs and Hallam buildings in general. The library, help centre and on-site restaurants are great, which couples well with the staff being extremely friendly and helpful (including most lecturers). Some lecturers provide a more perspicuous teaching style than others, but this isn't unique to any individual uni.
Hallam has become the beating heart of Sheffield. It's located close to the city center, train station, accommodations, and all other amenities Sheffield city has to offer - having Tesco, Cosmo, coffee shops, gyms and various restaurants/bars only 2 - 10 minutes walk away.
The students here thrive, and are pushed heavily into being versatile, well-rounded and professional people with excellent abilities/knowledge within their chosen field of study. The university will pick you up from whatever level you're at, without prejudice, and turn you into a professional (so long as you put the work in).

Cons - My main gripe has been the Student Union for the uni which could be improved. Not to say it's awful, but compared to some other universities it's mediocre; a few select areas of the uni need to be expanded on and funded. There are a few courses that seem redundant in light of the bigger ones offered, although with increasing specialisation of some areas of industry, it makes sense.

I would recommend Hallam to anyone looking to get their professional qualifications and enter a massive range of future opportunities - cheers Hallam!

Sidenotes - I've seen a small number of reviews here knocking the uni. They're mostly people who are from other universities/have never attended Sheffield Hallam. The university is held to the same high standards as all other universities in England - there are a lot of hoops to jump through regarding the contents of the course material and how it is examined nationally. Cheating and plagiarism are strictly monitored and WILL land you in hot water. If your work is good, or bad, your grade will reflect it!
