CIERRA CADENA Review of KIPP Aspire
I am currently a senior at KIPP UPREP. Reviews mad...
I am currently a senior at KIPP UPREP. Reviews made by a previous student is not a review you should take literally. I have been at this school since 5th grade, with the exception of leaving my freshman year to try something new. When I left the school, I had not received the care, or even teaching styles, that ONLY this school brings. Yes, it has created a new IB program for every junior and senior to take full advantage of, but yes, it is extremely rigorous. Standing with an non- weighted 4.0 GPA, I realize the difficulty of this program, but also the support I, and all the other students, receive by teachers and administration to make this challenge a little easier for us. They are ALWAYS asking for student's feedback to create better and more effective classes. They care, and if you are apart of SAISD, you will not get this same care, and community feeling that KIPP brings. *If you advocate for yourself, they will advocate for you.* There are many great opportunities the school offers you, you just need to ask.
If your child has been in apart of IB, has barely begun the journey, or is going to in the next few years, just know this: yes they will complain about the workload, a lot (I know this because I do it too), but it is worth it. All the papers you have to write, readings you have received, every set of notes you have to take, is worth it. I just came from a college program at one of the best liberal arts colleges in the USA, and I received honors, and I owe it all to the school that has taught be how to study and balance my schedule.
A friend of mine just got accepted to Penn State already. That is one of the best colleges a student thus far has been accepted to; and this is barely beginning.
KIPP is doing great things, and I only put 4 stars because I know we can only make it better.
