This is my longtime favorite bookstore. The only one I love better is Powell's in Portland but that's a 2 hour drive.
Smith's it's not a place to go when you're in a hurry. It's packed to the brim with books, not just on the shelves but sometimes in stacks on the floor. It's the kind of place you want to spend an hour or three browsing. Honestly, I could spend all day there. The prices are pretty good as many books are used and the new books are always a percentage off the list price. The staff is helpful and friendly. Even though they don't seem to have tons of employees I always find help quickly when I need it, unlike a certain large chain in town that never has enough staff.
You won't necessarily find every new book your bestie or co-workers recommended in this store (I last went looking for Minecraft books for my son and didn't find many choices) but they do have a huge variety of books.
