In Italy they are called craquelin, here they are called Mariaboller ...
I just got home from Lucca where I threw myself in food and cake. Of all the delicious cakes I got down there - and there were many - this was my favorite cake and I got a minimum of 3 a day.
What a coincidence that I just discovered them in Aarhus, the day after returning home.
Mother Anna's version is even more delicious than the ones I got in Italy - it's crispier, more creamy inside and flavorful.
