If anyone is in crisis I highly suggest you go because it is a good place to get through a crisis. I went for a week and it was okay. You get clean sheets and a quilt and you only have to share the bathroom and shower with your roommate which was nice. The only huge negative was a nurse handing out my meds started being nosey about why I was there and when I told her for self injury she told me I was doing it for attention. It was the first and only time I had a panic attack there and reported her to my social worker. If you aren t going to be compassionate don t work in a mental health hospital. I did have many nice nurses, one man whose daughter was going through something similar and we talked about it and it made me feel a lot better. They were also really accommodating with stomach medications I had to take three times a day. They always had it ready right before meals so I can grab it and go eat which made it feel like I wasn t being a hassle. There was only 8 psych patients and about 25 dual diagnosis patients and I got along with everyone pretty well! I would rate it higher if that incident with that nasty nurse didn t happen. I didn t feel like I was in jail and it became a place of comfort but I was happy to leave feeling safe with myself and ready to move on to a different program. Just know if you do go you need to bring your own bath supplies and products and can bring your own snacks. They keep it all locked up but you can ask a therapist at any time to grab something for you. I also wanted to add that one therapist here changed my life and something he taught me I use till this day and it s what keeps me sane. I would give 5 stars if that one nurse wasn t so rude but honestly if you think you need to get help go here. They also updates a huge chunk of the building so it s pretty nice in there !
