Ashley Peterson Review of Companion protect

I decided to get Companion Protect when I adopted my kitten in January. She recently had an emergency and ended up accumulating a hefty sum in vet bills ~$1700 to be precise between her daytime vet and overnight hospitalization at Blue Pearl. To make a long story short, my out of pocket cost was around $400. The deductible amount is per incident, (in-vetwork $50, out-of-vetwork $100, emergency $200 for my policy). In my case, one $200 deductible covered a trip to an in-vetwork vet, a transfer to an overnight hospital, a transfer back to the original vet, and follow-up bloodwork 2 days after my kitty's initial release home. After the deductible is meet 90% and 80% of costs at in-vetwork and out-of-vetwork clinics are fully covered.
I probably called their claims agents 10 times over a 4 day period and they were always very helpful. The only aspect of the policy that I found to be frustrating was the nuances of "emergency care" which turns out to be anything after 5pm and before 8am. My refund check for the out-of-vet work portion of her bills was sent out within a few days. For about $25 a month, not having to worry about high costs of emergency vet bills is worth the peace of mind.
