A grift

My ophthalmologist and his assistant were good, thorough. (Reception leaves something to be desired, though, as concerns courtesy and conveying information.)

I've never worn glasses but ended up with a prescription. I asked about the on-site glasses service, part of Eye Institute, and was directed to them.

EIAustin is in network for me, as concerns insurance. The glasses service, no--which I was NOT told. I was given an itemized bill and told I'd need to file a claim.

Now, I have a $960 bill for glasses that I am overwhelmingly responsible for. (My insurance will reimburse up to $120.)

I called and asked about the return/refund policy and was told returns are not accepted.

It feels like a GRIFT. At best, it's a reckless, unforgivable disregard for people's financial realities.

I would NOT recommend Eye Institute, and though I liked my ophthalmologist and his assistant, I will now go elsewhere for my eye care needs.
