This has been the single worst skiing experience o...

This has been the single worst skiing experience of my life. At points, I even feared for my life -- let me explain.
We arrived at opening time (8:30) excited and happy, ready to ski. We parked in an adjacent lot and took the shuttle to the base. After getting our tickets, we popped on our skis only to see that not a SINGLE lift was spinning.
However, people were waiting in line for one lift which only went halfway up the mountain, and this line consisted of several hundred people.
When that lift finally started spinning (already half an hour after the official opening time), there were only two trails at the top, and the trails were in awful condition. They were simply clumps of snow that had frozen over.
When we made it down to the bottom of the trail, we waited another 20 minutes in the singles line for the very same lift before the mountain opened up the Gondola, which goes to the summit. People flocked to it and quickly formed something close to a mob. Still, we were happy to finally get on a lift that went to the top of the mountain.
When we arrived at the top of the mountain, though, we quickly realised we should not have been so hopeful. Only 2 trails were open, and all the skiiers on the mountain were attempting to making their way down them. Several members of my group were knocked down by other skiiers within the first run, and I felt lucky to have made it down without falling.
We continued to go down that run and were luckily able to branch out onto approximately two other trails that had opened up. However, they, too, were overcrowded. At around 11:15, we couldn't take it anymore and skiied down to the main base. That was where we had our first (and last) positive experience of the day -- we were given vouchers pretty quickly and without needless bickering.
We will come once again to use up those vouchers but will not be returning after that.
