Upon parking at the Halifax International Airport,...

Upon parking at the Halifax International Airport, my wife noticed the unique dashboard of the red Fiat we parked beside. 35 minutes later, we returned and noticed our car had been damaged, with evidence that the Fiat was responsible given the red paint on our car and the fact that there was no longer any car in that spot.

All international airports in Canada this day and age have ample video surveillance, so I requested that the HIAA provide me with the licence plate of the red Fiat that exited the parkade between 11:00 and 11:35 am.

I experienced many delays in trying to speak to the right person, with many discrepancies in the information provided. Meanwhile, I reported the incident to Halifax Regional Police, but no action could be taken as the HIAA (admittedly) took too long to follow up and the footage was recorded over in the recording loop.

The HIAA has since posted park at own risk signs to absolve themselves from any future liability (this disclaimer was previously only on the ticket if you took one, not seen by those using their MacPass for payment).

Considering their refusal to assist with my reasonable request for information, this was my most disrespectful customer experience I've ever had! They stated privacy concerns prohibited them from disclosing information, but my inquiry wasn t even dealt with in a timely enough fashion to have a warrant or court order issued if I so wished. Given how many photos in public places are currently being posted online, one can hardly expect any appreciable level of privacy in any public area.

Before this incident, I often debated whether I would drive or take the Halifax Transit Airport-Fall River bus (route A320) to the airport. Considering the disrespect shown by the HIAA and that the bus is just as fast as driving and very affordable, I won t hesitate to take the bus for any future airport trips and would recommend you consider it as well!
