I attended a performance of Carmen in March 2015. I paid 144 euros for a third level box seat on the left. The music was wonderful but there was no view of the stage. This was extremely disappointing. I was in seat 4 of a box. The only people in the box who had views were the people in seats 1 and 2. I think it is very unfair that La Scala charges full price for tickets when it is impossible to see the stage from certain seats. These seats should be discounted. Also, they could add small videos in the boxes, next to the libretto monitor so that customers can at least see a picture of the stage.
We made the trip to Milan specifically to go to La Scala. Our trip was not ruined because the city has other attractions but the disappointment left a bitter memory.

If you want to go to La Scala I suggest that you buy tickets in person or by telephone. You can tell the box office that you only want tickets that provide a view of the stage. If you get seats 3, 4 or 5 be prepared to sit on an uncomfortable stool and to listen but not see anything.
