So far I have only done 2 jobs. My first went quite well, but my second was awful! I was working Sofitel Heathrow Terminal 5 airport hotel. They made me polish glasses for 3 hours until my skin was coming off, I had unfortunately had a bad reaction to the polisher so I let one of the managers know and he was kind enough to remove me to do something else. The Romanian girls that had been recruited had little symphony and were very rude to me, after I told them I could no longer polish, they made me feel very uncomfortable especially because they were laughing and talking in Romanian which they knew I could not understand. After that I started serving dinner to the customers and everything was going fine until me and a few others asked to go on our break (by law If you ve been working for 6 hours your entitled to a 30 minute break) but when I and 2 other males asked we were told they couldn t send us on break because there are still customers, regardless of this we had been on our feet for 6 hours and all needed to get some fresh air and sit down. After I was told no, this other manager told us we should go home and gave us bad attitude. We didn t receive any respect and it was like we were servants that didn t matter. We decided we would leave ( we had no choice he threatened to bring security). Then when we were about to go he took us to one of the staff canteens, so we though we were finally going to eat some hot food. When I went to eat my food it was cold, many of the food contained meat and rice so this was unhygienic, I was shocked as this was a 5 star hotel but the areas for staff were unhygienic and dirty. The staff locker room was full of rubbish on the floor and hadn t been cleaned for a long time, most of the lockers were broken so I was forced to leave my bag there and anyone could have taken it, I had to keep my passport and my phone in my bra the whole time at work as I could not risk them being stolen.If the public saw this they would not want to stay here. In conclusion it is not class 1 s fault but be prepared to be treated like you don t matter, when they send you out to jobs.
