After my GP screwing up in establishing I had cancer and then an extensive nightmare through two typically overrun NHS hospitals, I spoke to a friend who 5 years ago was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The RMH saved his life, but more than this he told me they showed the way a hospital should be run with staff that care and a general relaxed vibe about the place.
I was referred at a time of anxiety having seen my delay from first visiting my GP and being placed on a treatment pathway with 5 months later. I am three months on from arduous and brutal treatment - what can I say? Everything my friend had told me is true. Staff who care and are not impersonal, a relaxed vibe and knowledge and professionalism throughout, from nurses to the top consultants.
I still have a way to go, but I cannot thank all at RMH enough for the treatment I have received to date. It will never be forgotten and as soon as I am able I will be a big emphasis in my remaining years to fund raise and help them. The NHS gets kicked so much, yet there are establishments out there that lead the way and show how it can be done. Politicians take note. Top rate for RMH.
