I am the parent of current & past high school students, but prefer to post anonymously, to avoid embarrassing my children (teenagers are sensitive). I decided to write a review of Harmony, because when I talk about the school with parents of students who attend Harmony, and different schools, I notice a big difference. Although Harmony doesn't have the same funding to finance interesting/fun things for students (like art, music, drama, sports, and other normal high school experiences) they do make up for it in one important area. Safety/security is a major priority at this school. The location is ground zero for ghetto-gangster danger. There have been instances of bad characters trying to get away with some serious felony-level stuff there (just like any other school) - but the AP Ms. Redmond = 'Dean of Students' is such a great leader, things are always handled professionally and promptly - to insure the kids' well-being. I have heard so many stories from students, parents, and teachers that praise Ms. Redmond for always keeping things right for everyone. Personally, I don't understand how she does it. It seems like a job that would take 2 or 3 people to do right, but she makes it work. Long story short, HSA Dallas isn't perfect, but compared to other schools in the area, it's the best choice we have. Mostly because of the great teachers who work hard, and the efforts of Ms Redmond.
