Excellent experience!

Excellent experience!

I ended up at Trek MacDill because Trek in Clearwater didn t have the bike I was interested in, X Caliber 6 in 18.5 frame. They referred me to Trek MacDill because they did.

I walked in and was greeted immediately because they knew what I was there for. Jared grabbed the bike and got it ready for test ride. I told him my experience level, how long I d been out of the game, where I ride, etc. After test riding, I chatted with Jared more, asked him questions to get caught up on everything that s changed in the past 10 years in the world of mountain biking tech, asked his opinions and experience. Not only did he answer all of my questions, I could tell he was genuinely excited about mountain biking and not just there to sell bikes. It was like hanging out at the trailhead chatting about gear and what works best for what I want to do. During the entire conversation he did not try to upsell me from the X Caliber 6 that I test rode. I thought that was cool because sometimes newbies get steered (no pun intended) into buying too much bike for their budget and/or skill level. He left the buying decisions to me but made sure that whatever I decided on fit properly and felt good to ride. He had expert advice and knowledge on important details like frame size and fit. On my own decision, I test rode the X Caliber 8 to see what the $300 difference felt like. That s the bike I ended up buying, partly because it felt awesome to ride and partly because I was happy to spend more considering the service I received! I plan on taking my son to Trek MacDill to get his mountain bike! I have no doubt I ll have the same excellent experience! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I live in Pinellas and it's a little bit of a TREK to the shop. ;)
