Many people have the misconception that this company is an appraisal company. It is NOT. It is a service provider to the Appraiser companies and lending institutions. It is the the lending institutions who decide on the fees to charge. It is the appraiser who have the flexibility depending on the situation, and yes, after the fact to up the fee depending on the service being provided (rush, multi-unit when only a single unit was requested, etc) There are many many factors and examples that are not in the control of Nationwide. If you have a problem report with the appraisal report it to the lending institution and they can start a review process. In actuality Nationwide provides a great service that facilitates and speeds up the appraisal process and keeps banks, appraisers, and other parties involved accountable. Hope this review helps to clear the air on the role of Nationwide and mute the common complaint in these reviews about changing fees, poor service etc.
