OVERALL EXPERIENCE I have an ongoing excellent experience at the World Gym since joining in the fall. FAMILY ORIENTED There are many young families there, parents exercising as their children exercise as well in a carefully watched yet fun environment. CARING STAFF During Hurricane Sandy, World Gym opened their doors to all the public for showers, phone charging, etc. The professional staff there, both ones who gave classes and the tennis pros, offered their services for a special fund raising weekend for another hard hit hurricane employee. We raised a lot of funds, and it was very touching. TENNIS After 30 years of not playing tennis I hesitantly approached the tennis staff who both coaxed and embraced me, and I have been getting steadily better. PERSONAL TRAINING I am now working with Oneil Pryce (aka Real Deal Oneil) who is an incredible personal trainer. POOLS There is a marvelous professional teaching the swimming aerobics classes - outstanding EQUIPMENT CONDITION AND TENNIS COURTS - These are not perfect, however, given the camaraderie, friendliness to new members and the ability to not have to wait for a specific piece of equipment, I can stand it. They have several housekeeping/maintenance people constantly cleaning the work areas - I mean constantly. In a dream world the elliptical TVs would work most of the time, and the tennis courts wouldn't be so damp and leaky. However, you can still play on the courts and I am hoping that they are renovating them, as they are also renovating parts of the lockers. OVERALL RATING - Excellent, because they continue to try to improve. It's impossible to have a perfect huge sports arena like this - it's like your house - it needs constant upkeep. Again, the leaks are the biggest issue at the moment, but we've had a rough stormy year and I believe they will fix the courts this Spring. BILLING NOTE: I had a glitch in one of my billings, and the staff called me back immediately and we resolved the issue - it turned out to be my credit card company, not a fault of the gym's, however they were right on it and didn't quit until it was resolved.
