So I inherited some artwork from my parents, and there were a few pieces that I didn't want to keep, so I was looking into selling them, as they're rather valuable. Based on research I found Baterbys Art Gallery online and was happy to see that they offer consignment services to sell artwork.

According to their site "Baterbys is happy to offer our art consignment services. Our team works diligently to find the right buyers for you, at home and internationally, through our vast network of loyal clients."

So I stopped by today in hopes of talking to someone about what steps I'd need to take to do this. I walked in, and after a minute a woman came out of the back to greet me. When she saw me, she stopped hesitantly and stood back and asked what I wanted, looking at me apprehensively. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt as I was out running errands. I explained to her what I was looking to do, and she looked me right in the face and said they do not offer consignment. I said I had a Miro, Lebadang, Dali and a few others. Not only did she say they don't do that, but seemed to have NO IDEA where I could sell this artwork. It was obvious I didn't look the part she expected and therefore I was unworthy of even being in her gallery.

While it was a nice looking gallery and my fiancee had wanted to visit in the future and possibly make some purchases, I would now never set foot in this place again, as the staff member flat out lied to my face because I'm assuming she didn't like the way I look. What a horrible and unprofessional way to do business.

Avoid this place at all costs, seems like a shady business run by biased and judgmental people who are snobs.
