CLiC has us all fooled promoting themselves as authorities on our K through 12 media needs, sponsoring online resources, and providing training to Colorado s schools. The truth is far different whether it s just sloppy work, or conflict of interest, the CLiC has formed relationships with big publishers like EBSO and are peddling pornography to our schools across the state. They purchase and re-bundle EBSCOhost products, and other "resources", knowing full well that these databases are unfiltered from the source, and that EBSCO s publishing clients are streaming adult erotica, pornographic stories, and even violent pornography right into our elementary, middle, and high schools. EBSCO products are filtered by lexile only and since pornography doesn t contain many big words , it can and does land in public school catalogs. Many of the EBSCO databases (Novelist, Science Reference, Literary, Poetry & Short Story, Consumer Health, Viewpoints etc.) are categorically designed with pornographic search terms that are streamed as live hyperlinks into children s databases neither the text nor the search terms can be filtered. Our K 12 communities are being sold a bill of goods from the CLiC the material they sell places school children all across our state at risk for exposure to pornography and violent, dehumanizing messaging all from the very databases that are supposed to be vetted and safe for schools. CLiC is taking advantage of the trust of our educators and parents this is a badly managed company that is launching a virtual assault on our school children, whether through incompetence or the pursuit of a social agenda is anyone s guess. Teachers may be unknowingly directing children to the CLiC sponsored databases in their classrooms, and parents are allowing their use for homework the CLiC - peddled EBSCO products are not safe and adults should review them carefully. The CASB has been notified and all of our school districts are complicit if they fail to cancel these subscriptions and demand their money back from CLiC and EBSCO.
