My husband got into a horrible motorcycle accident...

My husband got into a horrible motorcycle accident on 8/9/16. First I want to say a huge thank you to the trauma unit, especially his nurse that he had in the emergency room, Emily. She did an amazing job at taking care of him while he was in a panic and in so much pain. Second, I want to thank the orthopedic surgeons who repaired his leg. They were awesome and made sure the surgery went smoothly. However, our experience there was absolutely terrible beyond that. We were there for 6 days, and out of those 6 days, all of his nurses were terrible, except for two named Camielle and Lisa. We had one instance where we had to change nurses because the nurse he had gave him his medications with his bare hands, which is completely unsanitary. Housekeeping was horrible and never came to the room, so our room was a disaster. The only way my husband could get to sleep was if I laid with him for a little bit to get him to relax. And on the 5th day, a nurse finally said that there was a policy that I couldn't be in the bed with him. So the nurses definitely need to be on the same page with their "policies". Basically every nurse had an attitude and acted like the patient was such a burden on them. It got so bad that my husband said he felt like he was in prison instead of getting proper care at a hospital. Also, the employees (food services, coffee shop, housekeeping) all complained to me about how they were overworked, and they all looked exhausted and just had terrible attitudes and customer service because of it. I had one employee tell me that they had her working overnight for 7 days straight and she had a newborn baby at home. To me, that's very unacceptable. With it being a hospital, I would think they would know how important it is for a mother to be with her newborn child, and could work out her schedule a little bit better.

The only reason that I gave this review 2 stars is because I had finally gotten fed up with how my husband had been treated and walked down to the Family-Patient Experience department and spoke with someone about all of the issues we were having. After that, they got the ball rolling to have him discharged asap. Thank you to Mr. Johnson and Mr. McClain for looking into our issues.

Overall, Grady is amazing at saving lives, but terrible at customer care. I hope that we never have to go back to that place except to see orthopedics.
