Unfortunately, we noticed on our last visit, that standards are rapidly dropping. Incomprehensible,how it is possible that ,in the unique historic interior of the old part of the hotel, the original counter has been replaced by a tasteless bar!? With American- style barstools!!! Are they crazy? To get 8 more seats in this huge place? To sell a couple more beers?Ship models have disappeared...The new tables and chairs have absolutely nothing to do with the original style, except for being brown. Plastic trays with cutlery in prominent positions, under beautiful paintings... Disgusting. Leendert Spaander must be turning and twisting in his grave. How can the current management be so stupid not to realize that they have the responsibility to preserve a unique piece of history. Shame. And also shame on Monumentenzorg for not preventing these things to happen.
Hopefully someone will stop this tendency before it's really too late.
Needless to say that staff is practically unprepared for the job of restaurant service. With such management...
