I ve had a very unpleasant experience although brief with Dr. Jeffrey L. Horstmyer today at Mercy Hospital Miami. Being in a hospital can be a stressful situation for anyone and the last thing a patient needs, is to have their medical issue compound by a unethical unprofessional doctor. Having bad bedside manners is one thing for any medical professional; however, when that professional represents a hospital like Mercy Hospital their behavior reflects negatively upon the other hard-working dedicated medical professionals. Dr. Horstmyer was inconsiderate and disrespectful; moreover, because of his actions I didn t receive ethical, high-quality, safe and professional care without discrimination. Dr. Horstmyer s was abusive and somewhat harassing. Dr. Horstmyer deprived me of my rights as a patient to be treated with consideration, respect and dignity. I ve dealt with Dr. Horstmyer for about three minutes and my experience was disgusting. I have detailed my complaint against the doctor to the department of health; furthermore, I ve detailed the complaint with appropriate administrators at HCA and Mercy Hospital. I would encourage anyone that has a legitimate complaint to go to the proper channels to ensure no other patients would have to be treated in such a disrespectful manner by Dr. Jeffrey L. Horstmyer. Fortunately, for me and unfortunately for Dr. Horstmyer I was doing a Audible recording and as the doctor and his practitioner walked into my hospital room I thought I turned it off and set my device down luckily it captured the conversation which leads to my complaint against the doctor.
