Prestonfield has beautiful, luxurious rooms and is staffed by people who understand how to make staying there even more special.

The rooms are sumptuous, with velvet wallpapers and gorgeous antiques and curiosities scattered around. The views are some of the best in Edinburgh.

When we stayed, I asked to book the private turret for a late dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday, only to be told it was unfortunately booked up. Instead, they suggested we breakfasted there, with someone on hand to pop up and down to the buffet for us, and to serve us from the a la carte menu. Afterwards, we explored the hotel's rooms, and then the grounds, the peacocks even behaved long enough for us to take some photos of them with Arthur's Seat in the background.

I've stayed, or worked, at many hotels in Edinburgh, and I've yet to have another experience that can equal Prestonfield. One word of note: it is on the pricier end of the spectrum, but trust me, it's worth it.
