Lucky Hoover Review of Hawaii dental service (hds)

As an insurance company one would expect that they are looking out for our good health. That is what we pay them for, right? Oh, and to help cover the cost of our dental procedures. Overall, they should be on our side, their customers, the reason they exist. However, when it comes to our dental care they seem to be lacking in both those areas. The first major flaw they have is not acknowledging the harm of putting mercury fillings into our mouths for long term use. Mercury is one of the most toxic substances on Earth. Why would anyone think that using it as a permanent filling could be anything but toxic to us? That's like a no-brainer. So why would they pay doctors to use this procedures on us? Albeit they did not invent this procedure, still should not mean they should encourage such an obvious lack of sanity by dentists. Yet they do not cover anything but mercury fillings on molars. Some dentists will apply that coverage toward the safer composite filling but that leaves a large amount to be paid by the patient. Another absurd thing they do is put a low maximum amount of coverage they will pay on your behalf for a year; usually less than the amount you pay for the year. For example, I pay them $2500 a year but they will only pay out $1200 max per year to my dentist. So if my dental bills are more than $3000 in January and they cover and pay their max of $1200, not only am I left to pay $1800 out of my own pocket, but I will have to pay for all dental bills for the rest of the year AND still pay for my insurance for the rest of the year and not be covered! How does that make any financial sense? This is a blatant rip off of our hard earned money. And for all that money they are making you would think they could at least stay educated about healthy and unhealthy procedures that they endorse, unfortunately not in their case. Why is this business even in operation? It would probably cost less not to pay for this "service" and just pay the dentist directly. A cheap way to avoid dental bills: brush when you wake up, floss once a day and brush before you go to sleep.
