National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", until 1929 Kharkiv Institute of Technology, since 1975, the Kharkiv Orders of Lenin, VI Lenin Polytechnic Institute - was founded in 1885 in Kharkiv. The second technological institute in the Russian empire after St. Petersburg. Also, the second time in the history of opening a technological institute on the territory of Ukraine after the Lviv Technical Academy (1844). At present, the largest educational center of eastern Ukraine and the largest university in Kharkiv. About 26,000 students study at the university.

The university trains specialists in three qualification levels. The first level - training 4 years with the qualification bachelor, the second and third - training 5.5 years with the qualification of an engineer or master - 6 years.
