I had very high expectations for my meal at Goodst...

I had very high expectations for my meal at Goodstone and, frankly, they were not met. At this price point I'd recommend almost anything else. The venue is lovely but the food and service are not up to scratch. My husband and I had an early dinner reservation for Christmas. The pre fixe menu was nicely thought out but honestly the food was under-seasoned to the point of being bland. My main pork was laughably tough to the point that the steak knife couldn't really offer any help. Everything was just... meh. But all of that could have been eclipsed by stellar service! Unfortunately none was to be had. I know, it was a major holiday, but at $500 for two people I expect to at least be treated like an adult in a fine dining establishment. When I asked for tasting notes for a wine I was given a two word answer. (Ok, maybe this server doesn't know the wine but we were assured that the light red would be a good pairing for the meal. Not only was this untimely wrong, there was a semmelier! Why didn't he come over to make some suggestions? Or even acknowledge us at some point? He made multiple rounds of the room and never stopped by our table.) Our bottle was brought out cold. Not cool, cold. I want my $150 wine served at a drinkable temperature, not leaving me trying to warm a glass up with my hands so I can get any sort of flavor. When we asked the waitress about it (I was hoping they'd take it in the kitchen for a few minutes to take the worst of the chill off but never had a chance to ask) she rolled her eyes and wandered off without offering any help. From that point on she was short and frosty; it was very unpleasant. We quietly finished our meal as fast as possible. Overall there are many better options. I know that holidays are always a bad time to dine out but this really left a bad taste in my mouth. I just wanted a nice meal out with my husband. Instead I had some middling food, blah wine, and sad service. I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future.
