I have bought and sold many homes in the past, but I never used Homestead Title & Escrow before. This was my first time, and it even though it was a bit of a complicated sale (I am 50% co-owner with my ex-husband of few good rental properties in the south-east side of Denver), but after I explained my real estate agent (Homestead partners up with Trelora on all of their deals) the situation and showed them the paperwork, they all seemed to get the hang of it all. Well, I found out later that they not only unethically disregarded my interest as a seller, but they went as far as lying to me about me not needing to attend the closing, that everything was already on file with this Title company. Trelora and Homestead Title originally sent me an addendum to the contract to add me as a seller, but then emailed me saying that such form was not actually needed by the Title company. Really?? To make matters worse, instead of apologizing and fixing the problem, they came up with ridiculous nonsensical excuses. When the day of the closing came quickly I came to find out that Homestead Title was specifically instructed to remove me from all of the closing paperwork. This is fraud, plain and simple. If it wasn t for my own attorney, which filed an emergency motion with the District Court to freeze all assets and proceedings from the sale of the house, I would have been screwed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, thanks to this Title company and their partners in crime at Trelora. The funny thing is this: nobody from Homestead Title even reached out to apologize or explain why they acted this way, or at least give me a copy of the title paperwork that was signed that day (I believe that there were additional liens against my property that I didn t know anything about). It has been few months now, and I am still waiting for my copy of the closing. So now I have to file my complaint with the State and with DORA to address all of the unethical issues that took place in this transaction (and believe me, I have plenty of evidence and email communication to document all of the fraud). For all of those out there thinking of using this company: beware of what you get yourself into!!
