Turnbull was a refreshing and insightful experience for me. My guide was a wonderful woman who was very knowledgeable about the area and personable. She took time to explain the vineyard, winery, and winemaker history to me and I really appreciated her efforts.

The wine was primarily red-based (cabernet sauvignon-the valley s it blend), but they offered Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a Sauvignon Blanc. I enjoyed all of their wines; all small productions and only a fraction is distributed.

The grounds are very lovely. A variety of vegetation and herbs for their honey bees in addition to peach trees. Plenty of shaded seating and very nice/clean bathrooms. The inside seating offered barstools, standing room only, and couches. Also, there were original prints of Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange. The spaces are very open and welcoming.

My only, very slight gripe is their wine club fees. It s a one-size-fits-all at $525-600. I don t doubt that it s a decent deal for 6 bottles per biannually shipment, but I wished they offered something smaller and slightly cheaper. Despite that, I still wanted to sign up.

I highly recommend Turnbull. It is a beautiful winery that feels welcoming and showcases brilliant wines.
