I had several stays at the hospital over the last 3 years. For a variety of maladies. From a quick emergency room visit to a 3-day stay . I have been in hospitals in other countries. I have been to many hospitals in Canada. That being said the Chinook regional hospital and their staff excelled in all aspects of healthcare. I want to see a special mention to the food. This isn't your daddy's hospital food. The doctors and support staff nurses orderlies were very professional and compassionate. The emergency room is well thought out, comfortable and well-appointed . There's an information screen listing wait times. Everything's computerized it's brilliant. Other provinces could learn a lot from Alberta. I have one negative to make. I had one doctor nurse combo that was less than sympathetic to my situation as I was homeless , in pain , scared, and was met with hostility . I was made to feel like I was just in the hospital so I can have a place to sleep I don't go to the hospital unless I'm injured believe me. Other than that the services I received were exemplary. Keep in mind we are full throttle into an opiate crisis this hospital does not only serve Lethbridge but all of the surrounding communities. I've seen Lethbridge EMTs desperately trying to revive someone who's just overdosed on drugs right there on the sidewalk. I've seen people refuse service angrily even though they were injured. and a personal story I had a bicycle accident and I was severely injured and EMTs who showed up put my bike and me in the ambulance and brought it and me to the hospital . I have no way of securing my bike so the EMT went to the store and bought me a lock so I can lock my bike. I'm sorry but that is way Beyond job description and an incredible to see such dedication to the art of service to humanity.
