[TL;DR] Great for happy hour specials, also bottomless mimosas and bloody mary bar at brunch. Food is good, but quality can waver. Good spot for live music and trivia nights steps away from Columbia Heights Metro. Plenty of vegetarian items for a BBQ place.

Acre 121 advertises traditional Southern and Low Country food, and its menu certainly doesn't appear to disappoint, but inconsistency in food quality often detracts from the offerings. Living right next door, I've always enjoyed the location (formerly inhabited by Commonwealth) as an easy stop off after work for happy hour or a convenient dinner.

Been here at least a dozen times for various meals and my best suggestion is a good weather afternoon happy hour on the patio or Saturday/Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas. They can handle solo diners and groups easily but live music or trivia nights can get crowded (and smoky around the entrance).

Food is good southern fare, but if you're a true southerner, you might not be very impressed by the options. I found the ribs and brisket to be tough rather than tender, and often brunch dishes come out of the kitchen barely warm or cold. The happy hour appetizers are good fare and go well with the discounted drinks.

Worth giving a try, but it's more likely to become a regular spot for its drinks and nightly events than its food.
