They are pretty rude here. Growing up I remember police would TALK to kids about the good part of behaving. Explain to kids how police help people, explain what the police do, etc. I took my niece for this great experience I had back at home (NYC, Bronx). They would show you around, talk to the kids and make it fun so they re not afraid. Well, this was not the case for me. The officer at the front desk told me I should be able to handle my child and he would not send anyone out there. He had asked if she was in trouble and I stated yes. That was it. He asked no further questions but stated he would
Not send anyone out to scare the child. I informed him this is not to scare her because she is already afraid but to show her how the police are here to help and how they show children the good. He jumped to assume I was a bad parent. Told me I should be able to handle it myself. It was never about handling her, but helping her grow and understand life. Kids are kids and they are very curious. This was simply sharing a FUN experience I once had. I also had to remember this was 20 years ago. Today I can t speak much for the police. Absolutely horrible customer service as well. He stated he wasn t sending anyone to scare her just makes me think what have y all been doing in the past for that to be the FIRST statement to a parent.
