After weeks of distraction, I was finally able to do something I haven't done in ten years... I put a car up on jack stands! I greased all the fittings(couldn't find 2 of them, but will keep looking), pulled the front wheels off for better access, and marveled at the new suspension! New upper and lower A ams. Uprights, springs, shocks, steering idler arm... wow!. The underside is exactly as described. All original, no rust, no signs of floor welding or replacement. The fender wells are remarkable. I haven't yet registered her (waiting for proof of insurance) but I threw an old plate on and terrorized the neighborhood for a few minutes. She's a delight. I practiced erecting the hood, and after a half hour sweating and panting, promised myself I need to practice more. Anyway it gave me a chance to properly stow the top as per the manual that was so thoughtfully provided. I bought a lead hammer over the net, and a good Porsche friend bought me one as a gift. The last time I put a hammer to a car was one of my old VW beetles! It's good to be working in the garage again.
