The food at this restaurant is not good. The menu ...

The food at this restaurant is not good. The menu sounds good and the food looks good but taste is not! I had a friend that came in town so we planned to go to dinner with a few other friends. Our waitress gave us the background of the restaurant saying it's the oldest in Atlanta. Also she raved that it is better than other southern restaurants like Mary Macs. If that's the case I'll never eat at Mary Macs. First the salad bar is not a true salad bar. There is only ceasar salad and spinach. Everything else is chicken, tomato, potato, or other kinds of salad. There are no toppings at all. They did have a variety of dressing. The ceasar dressing and chicken salad was good. I tried the fried green tomatoes and they had absolutely no seasoning, I sent them back. They took a tomato cut it put batter on it fried it and served it. No seasonings at all. My fried catfish and my friends was exactly the same. Also the black-eyed peas, no seasoning at all. My friend hated the crab cakes, they were nothing but bread and no crab. My other friends salmon wasn't great either. We brought our daughters who had chicken fingers that were fried so hard they couldn't even bite into them. Once they did, they wouldn't eat them. I decided to try one and no seasoning at all. Chick-fil-A definitely has them beat. They were out of honey mustard and the BBQ sauce made them no better. I had to feed my daughter again when I got home. Oh and they only had two booster seats and one highchair in the entire restaurant. The cornbread no seasoning. There were a few items we liked. The collard greens and mash potatoes are the best items they have on the menu. The kids enjoyed the chocolate chip muffins and the small biscuits. The sweet tea was good as well. Those are the only items that tasted good. Next is our waitress who was nice but entirely too talkative. She would spend 10-15 minutes speaking about items she like or other things about the restaurant before we could order. She described the food to be so good and that our taste buds may be use to Applebee's so we should be in for a treat. If she thinks this food is good she has horrible taste buds. She started out well with service but after while it was over. She never refilled our drinks until we finally asked. She never brought one of the little girls drinks. I ordered a chicken leg for my daughter but she brought out tenders. Every time you asked her for something she seemed too busy and before you could finish she was walking away. Really once we got our food she disappeared and rarely returned. If you said excuse me and not call her name she caught an attitude. Overall the experience was not good and we will not return. Honestly it's not best to brag about African Americans cooking the food if there is no seasoning. That is not how our culture cook. It really was a let down and disappointing.
