There is no category for unacceptable so Poor is the lowest I can score this airport. I bought a ticket to fly from Halifax International Airport several months ago and requested wheelchair assistance at that time. I tried to find out today exactly how to obtain that wheel chair assistance and was told that as soon as I get upstairs to the international ticketing counter, it will be available. My wings don't work, yet. Currently I cannot walk to the 2nd floor to get to the counter to get assistance. When I asked for help to get to the 2nd floor, I was told that it requires a special application to the airport at least three weeks in advance. My ticket that confirms wheelchair assistance doesn't count. Now really, does Halifax International Airport truly discriminate against disabled people? If I crawl up the stairs dragging my suitcase and I fall, who will pick up the bill? What happens if I just can't walk any farther and I just sit (fall) down on the floor and cry from pain. Last time I flew out of this airport, my 82 year old father helped me up to the international boarding area and then my mother fell and my father fell trying to keep her from falling as they attempted to get through the mess of construction going back to their car.
