Thakurgaon Government Boys High School is one of the best schools in Bangladesh. The school is located in a pleasant environment in the heart of Thakurgaon city. The school was initially established in 175 AD as a ME (Middle English) school next to the zamindar's house near the confluence of the Senua and Tangon rivers. (Higher English) became school. Mr. Ali Mohammad Sarkar was the Assistant Secretary of the High English School for many years from its inception. In 1904, the school was converted into HE School (High English School) by the then Inspector of Schools of Rajshahi Division. Hall ward was particularly encouraging. The first established minor school on the banks of the river Tangan had one thatched house. After the conversion to a high English school, a large building of the zamindar kachari adjacent to the school was used for school work for a long time. The school needed to be relocated due to lack of space. Bibi Tayyaba Khatun, the then zamindar of Kusumgram zamindari in Burdwan, donated ten and a half kathas of land for the transfer of the school. The beautiful and largest building of the school (present administrative building) was constructed on the said land between 1908-1908 and the school was shifted to its present location in December 1908. Later, Syed Badruddoza, the deserving heir of the zamindari, donated another 25 bighas of land. After that, another acre of land was acquired for the construction and expansion of the new school hostel between 1980-1973. When the school (HE School) was established as a high English school on March 1, 1904, the then President of the Board of Directors was Mr. F.J. Jeffries, the then District Magistrate of Dinajpur District. He was also the president of the ME School before the school was established as a high school. Until 31 August 1908, the District Magistrates of Dinajpur were the ex-officio President of the school and from 1904 to 1910 the SDO of Thakurgaon was the Secretary. From 1910 to 31 August 1918, the SDO of Thakurgaon was the Vice President of the school. From September 1, 1918, the SDO of Thakurgaon was elected the President of the school as a public office. In the middle of 1904, Mr. Abdul Jabbar, a Sub-Divisional Inspector of Schools, became the President of this school. He was later re-elected president of the SDO. The application for the grant of the school was made to the University of Calcutta in 1904, but it was approved by the university in late 1910. From then until 18 April 1935, the munsefs of Thakurgaon were ex-officio nominated secretary of the school. After the provincialization, the headmasters of the schools were ex-officio nominated as secretaries. When Thakurgaon subdivision was transformed into a district on February 1, 1984, the deputy commissioners have been nominated as presidents and the headmasters of the schools have been nominated as secretaries.
