Amy Wang Review of Yauatcha
We came for a late Sunday lunch.
We came for a late Sunday lunch.
Excellent service and food.
Attentive service. Even though there were a few mistakes, they were quick to rectify them. The waiter offered to exchange my dessert for something else when he realized I was allergic to peanuts after I had eaten half of the dessert.
Food was authentically Chinese, either simple or elegant and better than homemade Chinese food. This was the case for pork belly, fried rice, and hot and sour soup with mushrooms. The scallop shumai was the best I've ever had out of all the shumai I have eaten in my life.
Tea (Roguei from Taiwan) was the best tea I've had outside of Taiwan.
Dessert (Matcha tart) was of generous portion, delicious, and full of different kinds of texture. I loved the green tea sprinkles/crumbles underneath the ice cream and in the tart. It's a fancy tart, as was the scallop shumai.
Although pricey, it is worth the money.
Update: We came back on a Monday evening and the service was rushed even though we had made a reservation. The food was lackluster this time around and they didn't serve our favorite dessert we had a month ago. Hence, I downgraded the rating. It isn't my favorite Chinese restaurant in London anymore.
