USAA contracted ALLCAT Claims to assess my propert...

USAA contracted ALLCAT Claims to assess my property damage following Hurricane Florence. Adjuster came to the property at the agreed upon time. He was cordial and courteous. So far, no problems.
Got a call approximately three weeks after the assessment from Boerne,TX to inform me what the adjuster had determined.
His estimate to remove our tree was easily $400.00 below what any contractor would agree to for the work required.
I recommend that USAA members beware of contracted folks (ALLCAT) coming in to do their estimates. Get an estimate from the adjuster before he leaves your property--if possible. Once they're gone, you are without leverage.
Just so happens that the estimate came out almost exactly to the penny of my deductible. The folks at ALLCAT said that I could rebuttal the claim with USAA -- of course, I am at a great disadvantage, the estimate is done and the check is in the mail.
I asked the customer service rep at ALLCAT who called me to run the low (unreasonable) estimate up to her company's management since they are responsible for the numbers to USAA. What will become of this is anyone's guess.
I also encourage USAA members to have several contractors bids before the adjuster arrives. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to get that done. Tree removal folks were "working overtime" all over eastern North Carolina.
Lesson learned. I hope other folks are a bit wiser from this post.
