Paulina M. Review of Rocky mountain health plans
My partner was scheduled to have Cataract surgery ...
My partner was scheduled to have Cataract surgery and he wanted to do it out of network. We called to make sure that Medicare will still pay for 80% of the claim because he was ready to pay the other 20% to get a better doctor. After a smaller claim was denied by Rocky Mountain we called to make sure we wouldn't have problems with the Cataract surgery and they would not tell us if medicare would pay the claim knowing very well they wouldn't because of their "cost-sharing" agreement. It was only our doctor staff - people who are not in the insurance industry - who were able to tell us that Medicare would not pay because of the arrangement they have with Rocky Mountain. The 1 star is not because of the non payment, it is because the people we talked to - 3 in total - gave us illogical explanations, contradicting information, and almost cost us thousands. They won't tell you plainly "if you go out of network you will have to pay 100%". They will give you the runaround that you need to talk to Medicare, or your doctor office to find out what's covered or not knowing very well that their agreement with Medicare will result in denial of all claims made out of network.
