I have a 2014 Opel insignia with a 250hp strong gasoline engine and 4 wheel drive. With the purchase also the warranty of 5 years taken. And, you guessed it, just when the 5 years are over, I stand by the roadside with bad luck. And not a bit of bad luck. After a long investigation, a piston appears to have melted. Yes, you read that right: a molten piston. There is just a hole in it, so that the cylinder will blow full into the crankcase. In the end it appears that inadequate fuel injectors have been used by Opel. After a while these leaks will start. The car has only 69,000 km on the clock. By leaking the injectors, too much fuel enters the cylinders and also at the wrong time. As a result, everything becomes very hot and the piston melts, while the coolant temperature hardly rises. Damage in any case for thousands of euros, 3 months after the warranty expires. Typical!!! I would like to warn everyone who has a gasoline engine with direct fuel injection. Have the injectors tested for leaks.
We are now a few weeks further and still no repaired car. It appears that the required parts cannot be supplied by Opel. The revision company went looking for it and have found a company in Germany (Wiseco) that can make these pistons. In the meantime the costs have already risen to 5,000.00. I asked Opel for some explanation, but they don't give it at home !!!
