Stayed at the Inn for just one night while house hunting in Greenwood, which is a nice little city. The Inn is located in an area where there are restaurants and stores and I felt completely comfortable in the area. There were many things to like about the Inn, as others have reviewed, the people who work there are super friendly and helpful and the lobby is very beautiful. It's obviously a very special place. I enjoyed my stay for the most part, but I am only giving it 3 stars because I feel 5 stars is over rated and I'd like to be more realistic in my review.
My room cost me $123 and as nice as the lobby is, there was nothing special about my room that you wouldn't find somewhere else. I had a microwave and a fridge, the AC worked great, is not a window unit, you have a thermostat but it was very loud and even louder cycling on and off. The half glass partition in the bath sends water all over the place. Looks nice, completely useless. I was hoping for a firm bed, as I read in other reviews, but the king was soft and lumpy. The sheets and entire room were very clean, but the sheets were also very stiff, the pillows like rocks (I always bring my own pillow). In all, it was just an ordinary room.
The breakfast was another letdown. The service was great, the waiter was top-notch and when I mentioned I was a diabetic, brought out no-sugar syrup. The food was another matter. The pancakes were decent, the bacon and sausage gravy mediocre and the scrambled eggs truly awful. I have no idea what they add to eggs in hotels, maybe milk ? but I couldn't finish these. So I have no idea what anyone would rave about except that it's served to you as opposed to buffet-style. I would rather have just gone to a restaurant. If your usual idea of breakfast is a fast food line, maybe this would be good, but I thought it was poor.
If this review seems overly critical, it's maybe because for the price and the reviews I expected so much more. I would never stay here again at these prices. You don't sleep in the lobby and honestly I usually encounter nice people at most hotels. But the staff here is great.
