I was there on Sunday around 1-130. It was a beautiful day and was looking forward to spending some time in the country Of course we couldn't leave without getting apple cider and apple cider donuts. The line for the cider donuts snaked from the window into the parking lot. Someone in front of me said it was an hour long wait. So I waited while my friend went inside to do some shopping. I finally reached the window and received my donuts, tiny and under cooked. Frustrated by the long wait, raw in the middle donuts we left.
My friend had purchased an apple pie along with a gallon of cider. Once home we tasted the cider and it was bitter. I've had fresh pressed cider before and this was the most bitter I've ever tasted.
After dinner we warmed the apple pie, cut it into slices, each having a piece. Trying to cut through the crust was a task. Eventually, I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed my first bite. I looked at my friend who also was having issues with the chewy, over worked dough. Eventually we both pulled out the apples and left the dough to the side of our plates.
I have been to Indian Ladder Farms in the past with great success. This time was not the case. They seemed ill prepared to deal with the amount of people and the products were below standard.
I support local farms by buying directly from them as much as I can. I understand it is a difficult way to make money. I work hard for my money and can't afford to spend it on poor quality food.
Luckily for me there are many other local farms and orchards in the area. I can't see me spending my time or money at Indian Ladders
