**Don't go to REX ER while pregnant!!** This review is about the Emergency Department. I went to the ED in June when I was 4 weeks pregnant due to severe all over body aches and an elevated temperature. Throughout my time at the ED, they did not take my temperature after my initial temp was taken when I got there and did not listen to me when I tried to tell them I was in pain and something was wrong. I requested Tylenol multiple times throughout the 4.5 hours we were there, and was told no. I finally sent my husband out to demand someone come and give me some Tylenol. The nurse came in and did give me Tylenol, then took my temperature. The first temperature she got she did not "like" (took it in my ear), which was 100.8. So she decided to instead take my temperature in my mouth, holding the thermometer barely under my tongue, and got a temp reading of 99.9. They then discharged me and sent me on my way. I took my temp. in the car after we left, and guess what, it was 100.8. UNC Rex was negligent in monitoring my temperature, especially considering I was 4 weeks pregnant. Now, our baby has Spina Bifida. I'm not saying that REX caused this to happen, what I am saying is they increased our baby's risk and potentially caused the SB by not listening to me and taking my concerns about my temperature seriously. An elevated temperature during the time when the neural tube is being developed (weeks 4-5 in pregnancy) increases risk for Spina Bifida. I will not ever go to UNC Rex for any emergency or other services again.
