I would not recommend LIVS to anyone that loves their pet. The story of our experience there is too long to recant, as our 9 month old puppy was there for 5 days, and the list of the issues we had at this uncaring and horrible business is very long.
If you can take your pet somewhere else, please do so, we have heard from others that the Westbury ER is much better (609 Cantiague Rock Rd #5, Westbury, NY 11590) The fees will still be high, but your experience will be much better.
To keep my feedback of LIVS simple, I will start with sharing that the staff at LIVS:
- are uncompassionate and cold
- have horrific bedside manner
- incapable of providing comprehensive updates on your pet when you call or visit
- extortionists who prey on your emotional attachment to your pet
- have no regard for their actual printed and posted payment policy, they instead want to take as much money as they can from you upfront
If you do take your pet there, please make sure you thoroughly check your bill as they will try to charge you for services that you did not receive and you will need to request that they adjust. Please also make sure your discharge paperwork and write-up is accurate, we found many flaws in ours, including them leaving out a medication that we took home when our dog was discharged. Your main goal should be to get your pet stable and out of there to take to another vet. Do not trust them with the long term care of your pet, get a second opinion. I highly suggest that you go everyday to check on your pet, and also call several times a day for updates. Make sure you keep thorough notes each time you speak with someone and that you ask as many questions as possible. We had to coach LIVS through the whole process during our dogs stay there. If we were not diligent about asking the right questions, then we were left with very little from them. They held back test results, and would continuously put us off and not return our calls. LIVS is not a place to go and expect a positive, warm, and inviting place when one of your family members is really hurting. You should expect a cold, uncompassionate, money hungry, poorly ran business.
