I enjoyed our overnight spa stay, there were a few areas that could ve been better but overall it was great.

The spa itself is large and you definitely should get the tour from reception. The food is health-focussed and delicious with a great selection and real variety to suit all needs and tastes.

The pool was ok but one depth of 1.3m felt limiting and lanes would ve helped to regulate accomplished swimmers from those wanting a more general swim.

I had an incredible massage for 50 minutes and felt so relaxed but I have to say the room I was in was really sparse and didn t add to the relaxation experience in the slightest - it was bare, smelled funny with no atmosphere or immersion .

Reception at the hotel was where I felt service really fell down. The staff were uninterested and not engaged with visitors, actively avoiding eye contact with anyone waiting around for fear they might have to do something or answer a question. I went to reception 3 times to change my slippers - no one wanted to help me. One receptionist completely ignored me and started helping the couple behind me at one point. The couple were mortified and I simply walked away, giving up entirely.

Beware if you are staying in the Manor House part of the facility as it s very old and we spent the entire night kept awake by rattling doors and windows from the wind outside. I d request one of the more modern garden rooms next time.

I will return to the spa as the good far outweighed the bad but have learned some valuable lessons about the place.
