Jeff Johns Review of Marine Center of Indiana

Pretty disappointed with my experience at the service department. I bought a 93 Welcraft Excel in September and took it to them to have it looked over. I called ahead just to make sure they could check it over since it was an older boat. I was told on the phone they usually don't work on boats before 2000, but since it had a Volvo engine they didn't see an issue. They had my boat for over 2 weeks, only for them to tell me there was freeze damage. They couldn't tell me where the freeze damage was and said it would cost too much to fix.
After I got the boat home I looked it over myself, in which I couldn't see any visible freeze damage and tested the boat before I bought it. Also, I noticed the battery was still unhooked like I left it and the keys were still on the seat. So I was skeptical they didn't even take the time to look it over. Little things, but still.
Shortly after, l looked at other boats, but decided to take my boat to another shop to have a second opinion before deciding to sell it. I told them what the Marine Center told me in which they said there wasn't any visible freeze damage. They had it for a week and during that time they tested it, and found out in only needed a water pump assembly.
Long story short is I m glad I took it somewhere else to have it looked over before deciding to drop more money into another boat. I was charged $121.79 at the Marine just to say there was freeze damage, but I don t think they even took the time to look at it, just charged me the labor fee. I will not be taking my boat or future boats there to have serviced.
