This was by far the most frustrating and nerve wrecking emergency room visits ever. I bought my 72 year old father to ER on yesterday at 4:30pm. They admitted him about 8pm. In the meantime they had him as well as others in beds all in the hallway with no privacy or decency. The computers had no screens on them so I could see all the patients info and what medicines they were getting. They were open for ppl to see. The nurses were sitting at the stations watching YouTube and being on social media. The people who came to start IV s and check blood sugar were coming in and out the room with the same gloves. They did not perform hand hygiene or use new gloves until I asked. The doctor did a rectal exam on my dad and removed 1 glove and walked out the room with 1 bloody glove on through the hall to use it as a sample. The man night nurse gave my dad a medicine in the morning before he left and a hour later a new nurse came with the same medicine and said it was not in the chart that he was given the medicine. This is how medical overdoses and mistakes are made. About 12:45pm the next day still waiting in the ER, several doctors came in to discuss a plan, none of them washed their hands, used hand sanitizers or cleaned their stethoscope. No wonder so many germs are spread in the hospital. After 26hrs in ER waiting my dad finally got a room. I did write down all of the staff names but I m not trying to put them on blast. I had both of my children at WHC and I use to love this hospital but if you love yourself and you want to protect yourself then don t come to this ED. Go to AAMC. I did have 1 good nurse that practice safety precautions. Never will return here. I felt like I was at DC General in the 90 s.
