P.J. Kim Review of LEGOLAND Billund Resort

To start with a couple of caveats, I haven't been to other Legolands, and I'm a big fan of Lego and highly biased thusly. My son absolutely loves Lego. It's the only toy he's ever asked for and plays with. Through some amazing generosity, my son was given a choice of vacation, and he chose this Legoland because it's his pilgrimage to the birthplace of Lego.
Needless to say, he absolutely enjoyed his visit. It wouldn't have taken much at all for him to have a blast here, but it really is a well done theme park. It's, as I understand, one of the smaller Legoland and is not as glitzy. I think its smaller size works to it's advantage though. It's easy enough to navigate through the park, and the waits aren't too terrible usually. You certainly can get full experience of the park in a day or two if you're diligent.
The rides probably wouldn't be the main appeal to the most people as you certainly can find more fancy rides in bigger theme parks. I suppose you need to love Lego to appreciate the park to its fullest. For my son, the train ride around the miniland probably was worth the price of the admission and more. We really enjoyed ourselves simply strolling through the park, just noticing little detail around the park. The rides are still fun, of course. My son really enjoyed laser maze and traffic school. There are also enough variety for the whole family, from babies to teens and grownups. It's just that it's the Legos that make this place magical.
A couple things to be aware of though. The park hours are kind of short(it changes through the seasons, but usually for 7-9 hours), so it's a good idea to plan out what you want to do. Also, the food options aren't to great, and you need to be finished with your meal around the time the park closes.
