Great views after a obnoxiously long wait. We went toward the evening, the higher observation decks were closed on account of too many people. Security tried to confiscate my 1.2" pocketknife (one of those folding pliers multi-tools), but supervisor let me keep it. So, empty your pockets before you visit. Would highly suggest paying the *small* extra fee and getting the VIP tickets. By the time you get past the line into the building, the line for the security, the line to buy tickets, the line for the elevator, you wonder if its worth it. VIP ticket holders get to bypass three of those lines. And, really, it's one of those things you have to do in NYC.
