This store uses the wasteful practice of packaging...

This store uses the wasteful practice of packaging large amounts of food together on styrofoam trays with plastic wrap, such as 10 limes, multiple bell peppers, a whole bunch of jalapenos, etc. I would prefer that the items are loose in bins so that I could choose how many I actually need. This is wasteful in 2 ways: the styrofoam and plastic wrap is completely unnecessary, and I am buying more food than I need. One reason I see that they do it is because their produce is often getting towards the end of its shelf life and this is a good way to hide rotten bits.
As an organic store, the owners should be aware that some of their customers shop there for environmental reasons - the overuse of styrofoam and plastic wrap is a deterrent to shopping there, as is their habit of keeping their doors open when the air conditioner is running.
Even though the store is in a convenient location for me and I prefer to shop organic, I avoid going there usually because I do not want to buy items that have so much packaging.
