We replaced our unit as it was about 15+ years old and we wanted something more efficient. Quoted 2 people who are Carrier reps and Total Air Solutions was slightly less expensive for the same system . I wanted Carrier - as I had previously done a lot of research for the AC/Furnace "Up North". I wentt looking for who carried Carrier and selected Total Air based on reviews from several sources.
The 10 year parts and labor on everything if you use their $150 a year maintenance service - was an attractive feature and played into our decision on selecting them. We would have it maintained anyways - so why not have no major repair expense for the next 10 years. ( Carrier gives you the parts warranty)
We wrote the contract in July when we were here to close on the house and set the day for install based on our plans to return to work on home improvements. Reconfirmed the date 2 weeks prior that we were "go". Called the morning of install and they didn't have us in the plan - disappointing communication within their ranks. They ordered the equipment and did the install 2 days later. The install went well and the guys did a great job on clean-up. Only on Day 1, and everything seems ok. Waiting on inspector. 4 stars because of the communication screw-up - which impacted our working schedule which had been planned out around a lot of activity.
Additional note: Expected the inspector today as I was told it would be the day after. Called late today and was told that they thought it was Venice but its Sarasota county and they are 3 days out -so it was never going to be today. Would have been nice to know all this - as we have been looking for the inspector all day. The customer is the last to know apparently. You guys have to work on your communication - its been awful. You all think "the other guy" did the communication. You each need to own it - and you don't. This just shows a lack of respect for my time - it really has.
February 2019 Follow-up.
Been back here for a few weeks and everything good. Noticed an issue of an area that needed to be sealed correctly where there was an opening in the wall. The Install manager came out and sealed this up and took the time to go over the entire install both on the inside of the unit and the outside. Very responsive and full ownership. Even though we had some communication issues during the process - overall we are very pleased with their service, and ownership and follow up. Based on this responsiveness and ownership -increased my rating to 5 stars. I know things can happen - but its all in how you respond to the problems.

Ginny here to do the 6 month maintenance. Caught a capacitor out of spec. And got it changed along with the general maintenance. Pleasant, efficient, thorough. Thank you.
