I'd toured the castle as a child and was thrilled to learn we could stay overnight as individuals (not with a large party/event). The grounds are beyond peaceful and the staff was inobtrusive, warm and helpful. We stayed in General Palmer's suite, which was a purely wonderful experience. The castle tour alone is well worth the time, but staying overnight was unforgettable. There is no pressure and a surprising level of freedom to explore castle and grounds independently. This is a truly special experience. If you have the option, I can't imagine choosing to stay anywhere else.
